Nearly 25% of consumers say 25% is the minimum discount they would consider a “good sale.” Around 15% of people said items reduced by 30% - 40% is the minimum they expect and 14% of shoppers said they wouldn’t get out of bed for a discount of less than 20%, according to a survey by Swagbucks, a rewards and loyalty-program operator based in El Segundo, Calif., looking at U.S. shopping habits around the holidays. The National Retail Federation said 75% of people believe discounts are “very” or “extremely” important to making a purchase. (Marketwatch)
DID YOU NOW? New Mexico had the highest credit-card burden of all 50 states, while Massachusetts had the lowest. The states where residents owe the most on their credit cards - Alaska, Virginia, Texas, Maryland, and Connecticut - do not rank among the 5 highest debt burdens because their median household incomes are higher. In New Mexico, Louisiana, West Virginia, Alabama, and Arkansas it isn’t just how much they owe, it’s compounded by how low incomes are by comparison. (Marketwatch)

New studios and one-bedroom units have shrunken in size even more by 10.3% and 4.2% respectively. Two-bedroom apartments are slightly larger on average. New apartments have become much more expensive to rent: the average price has risen 28% over the last 10 years to $1,944. Denver rents are up the most, over 80% in a decade. (Marketwatch)
